While some massive overarching changes have been brought about by Call of Duty: Warzone 2, it is some of the smaller and more implicit additions that bring the most interesting new dynamics to the game. One of theseWarzone 2 features is the Revive Pistol, a new field upgrade that is already fostering some unbelievable plays and strategies.

Past Reviving Metas of Warzone
The concept of reviving teammates is absolutely vital to team-based gameplay in the battle royale genre and is present in essentially all the titles that fall under this category. Considering how much of a vital mainstay game mechanic this is to the genre, it is vitally important for battle royale games to introduce their own unique tweaks to reviving mechanics to stand out among the crowd.
The original Warzone was no stranger to unique revive-based game mechanics, with the self-revive kit being an extremely popular implementation to the franchise. Self-revive kits could be bought from one of the many buy stations around the map for $4,500, allowing players to revive themselves when incapacitated without the aid of a teammate. Interestingly, self-revive kits were also available in solo playlists, and became an absolute must-have for solo-players who would otherwise be instantly killed upon health depletion.
Other metas sprang from the use of self-revive kits, with players timing their own self-revive to be just near completion before being fully revived by a teammate for example, greatly reducing the time needed for a player to save a fallen teammate while salvaging the revive kit for another future use. While self-revives were a staple of Warzone gameplay, so much so that they have carried forward into Warzone 2, the implementation of the Revive Pistol is seemingly redefining any past revival metas.
Warzone 2.0’s Revive Pistol
The Revive Pistol of Warzone 2 is a brand-new field upgrade for the title, again being available to players in both team-based and solo playlists. Field Upgrades are an array of extremely important in-game equipment within the Warzone and contemporary Modern Warfare formula, and the Revive Pistol may just be one of the most useful.
Warzone 2’s Revive Pistol can resultantly only be found as loot within the game, and is most likely to be revealed in higher rarity loot boxes that are scattered throughout the expansive new map of Al Mazrah. Once obtained, a Revive Pistol will sit in a player’s Field Upgrade HUD slot and can thus be activated at any time, holding up to four shots in total. The Revive Pistol allows a player to shoot a downed teammate from close or mid-range, with a successful hit then beginning the standard revive counter that a manual revive would possess.
Revive Pistols can also be used to self-revive, but doing so will remove the Field Upgrade from a player’s inventory regardless of any remaining ammo. This new implementation fits perfectly within the slower pace of Warzone 2, while allowing for some heroic revives to be made that otherwise would not be possible due to the increased range and maneuverability of the Revive Pistol. While the Revive Pistol may fly under the radar against some of the more wide-sweeping changes within Warzone 2, it is a Field Upgrade that is absolutely worth holding on to in any playlist or mode that the game possesses.
