Warhammer is a franchise that dates all the way back to the early 1980s as a miniature tabletop wargame that has expanded into nearly every style of media since then. Trading card games, strategy games, action RPGs, and space strategy games, not to mention hundreds of novels depicting the Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40,000 settings. Published by Games Workshop, the Warhammer tabletop games involve players assembling and carefully painting highly detailed miniature armies and engaging in simulated battles that feature dice rolls, blast templates, rulers, and a whole lot of rulebook consulting.

The Steam sale event, known as the SKULLS Festival of Video Games, is showcasing many of the best titles the Warhammer franchise has to offer at steep discounts. Along with the discounts on many Warhammer games, the hit 4X turn-based strategy game Warhammer 40,000: Gladius - Relics of War is available to play for free for the duration of the event. Warhammer 40,000: Gladius is particularly notable for its no-frills focus on ruthless warfare. There are no truces or diplomatic maneuvers to be made, instead, the focus is on total annihilation in typical bloody Warhammer fashion.
Almost every Warhammer game is discounted in this event. The Diablo-like action RPG Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr is 75% off, including its Complete Collection, and the recently released hit grand strategy game Total War: Warhammer 3 is 10% off. Turn-based strategy game Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector is 40% off promoting its upcoming Sisters of Battle DLC, and the very well received turn-based tactics game Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus is 80% off. Surprisingly, the wildly popular Dawn of War franchise has not received any discounts despite being some of the most iconic Warhammer games.
The SKULLS Steam event is also taking the opportunity to showcase some upcoming Warhammer games and DLC. Warhammer 40,000: Darktide has been made available for pre-order and is a class-based first-person co-op looter shooter where players take on the role of members of the Inquisition fighting to defend the Hive City Tertium. Made by the developers behind the Vermintide series, Darktide is slated to release on September 13.
With so many games across a broad range of genres and settings, this week-long Warhammer sales event should have something for everyone. Whether gamers are diehard Warhammer 40,000 fans or just looking for a new strategy game, card game, or a gory shooter, this long-running franchise covers a lot of ground.
