Now, at max level, players in Warhammer 40k: Darktidecan equip up to 3 Curios at once, of any rarity between Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary. So, which Curio effects are the ones to keep an eye out for at all times, and why?
8 Bonus Toughness & Regeneration Speed
Now, some of these recommendations will apply more to specific classes in Darktide than others. For example, the bonus Toughness percentage and Toughness Regeneration Speed Curios do wonders for Zealots and Ogryns but aren’t the ‘best-in-slot’ thing for Psykers to use.
Ogryns and Zealots just have a lot of different passive bonuses or Feats tied to Toughness recovery. So, if they stack up Curios with either of these two effects on them, they’re able to do their job better and rebound from bad situations even quicker.
7 Bonus Max Health
This is a Curio effect more in line with Psyker and Sharpshooter builds, though of course it still depends on user preference. The Psyker doesn’t have all too many ways to immediately recover Toughness or recover it quickly compared to the other classes, so building their general HP maximum seems to be more beneficial.
Additionally, since Psykers only have a single Wound before they’re captured in Heresy and Damnation-level missions, having enough extra HP to take even one more hit can make the difference between failure and success. Of course, this doesn’t mean that the other classes shouldn’t use Max HP Curios, just that Psyker seems to get the most obvious benefit from them.
6 Block Efficiency
Block Efficiency has to be one of the most important stats in Darktide. It was crucially important in Vermintide 2, and it’s just as important (if not more so) in Darktide. The higher one’s Block Efficiency is, the less Stamina they’ll lose on average while blocking attacks.

Now, players who have become proficient at clearing Malice-level missions may wonder how beneficial this really is, given that Dodging and Pushing are more beneficial than Blocking (in general) at that difficulty. But, once they move up to Heresy and Damnation, these players will quickly find out just how tantamount Block Efficiency is to survival, especially against some of the absurd Elite and Specialist enemy spawns.
5 Additional Wounds
Now, when rejects first start out in Darktide, Wounds don’t really seem worth it. Sedition and Uprising are too easy after a couple of levels worth of experience, even for new players, and Malice is only truly tough with a bad team. But, as soon as players start moving up to Heresy and Damnation difficulties, Wounds matter a lot.
Sure, it may seem like a player is building themselves in a way to prepare for when they fail, which isn’t the most ’efficient’ use of their limited Curio slots. But, Darktide’s higher difficulties are intentionally unfair in a lot of ways, so even the most skilled players are still going to get downed relatively often.
4 Bonus Max Stamina & Regeneration
Two entries up, there was a lot of talk about how important Block Efficiency is, and that’s still true. But, if a player has a bunch of extra Block Efficiency yet only has three ‘pips’ of Stamina to block with, it’s not going to matter. Curios that grant additional Max Stamina, as well as increase Stamina Regeneration Speed, are absolutely crucial once people get a handle on Darktide’s melee combat.
Even Psykers running Kinetic Deflection (which lets them block with Peril instead of Stamina) need to keep this in mind since their block will ‘switch’ to using Stamina once they’re at 98 percent Peril. But, for the most part, this makes the biggest impact on Zealot and Ogryn players in terms of survivability.
3 Combat Ability Cooldown Reduction
This next recommendation is still up-in-the-air a bit, as the actual percentage benefit it gives is so small people are still figuring out if it’s ’truly’ worth it. Combat Ability Regeneration is the next Curio benefit on here, and it does exactly what one would expect, lowering the overall cooldown duration of the character’s Combat Ability.

But, no one has reported seeing anything over +5 percent on a Curio for Combat Ability Regen, and even that much is rare. So, if a player manages to find three separate Curios that offer this Boon, which will take some work, it’ll add up to a +15 percent cooldown, and that sounds pretty great.
2 Damage Resistance Against Gunners
Gunners in Darktide are, to some people, even scarier than Elite enemies, Specialists, or even the Monstrocities. These basic enemies (as well as the Specialist Enemies using guns) can absolutely shred both a player’s Toughness and their HP in just a couple of seconds depending on how ’exposed’ the player is (which players are hoping they change or adjust soon).
And, while there is some strategy people can implement to counterplay this (Deflector Sword on Psyker, Slab Shield on Ogryn, using cover and corners in general), nothing helps more than overall damage reduction. There are Damage Resistance boons on Curios for just about every enemy type, from Poxwalkers to Elites, but the ones for Gunners seem to make the biggest impact overall. And, the Damage Resistance seems to cap out at 20 percent, which means a player could get up to a 60 percent damage decrease if they found three of them.
1 Ally Revive Speed
And finally, let’s talk about Ally Revive Speed. Now, in general, the Ogryns tend to be the Revive units in Darktide, given that they have the Loyal Protector Passive that stops them from being interrupted while reviving. But, once players learn to block while reviving and Zealots get their Thy Wrath Be Swift Feat that stops melee attacks from interrupting them, all classes start relying on each other more often for revives.
Because of this, finding Boons with Ally Revive Speed is incredibly helpful in the later levels and difficulties. All that said, the percentage benefits are low in a similar way to the Combat Ability Regen boons (though they cap out at 12 percent rather than 5) so players may want to wait until they have 2 or more Curios with this effect before equipping them.
