Considering how the world is destroyed and is literally now just called the Wasteland, most characters in the world of Fallouthave time to think of some really interesting quotes. So we’ve put together a few of the favorites that we think are the best.

10 “Protect The People At A Minute’s Notice”

While most players will eventually come to find that Preston Garvey and the Minutemen are fairly annoying and not as cool as the legendary Brotherhood of Steel. He, basically, immediately puts the player in charge of the Minutemen and then has the audacity to order him around, telling the Sole Survivor about every settlement that has a minor issue. Despite that, he does have this nice quote that does get across the mission statement of the Minutemen.

9 “The Thing About Happiness Is That You Only Know You Had It When It’s Gone”

Kellog stinks, everyone can agree on that, the first time we meet him in-game he literally helps in the abduction of your son and then murders your significant other in front of the sole survivor, somehow knowing that they are watching despite being frozen. Then when the player does find him he’s super annoying and coy about the location of Shaun. Despite being the worst he does get this thought-provoking quotes in, before being shot to death as he deserves.

8 “It’s The End Of The World, All Over Again”

The ending in each of the Fallout games is always up to the player’s choices that are made both during the game and at the very end and Fallout 4 is no exception. Depending on what faction you choose to side with for the climax of the game the player might not hear this quote.

The player hears this quote if they side against the Institute and decide to detonate a nuke inside of it. Creating another massive explosion, similar to the one that the sole survivor saw at the beginning of the game.

7 “Death Is A Preferable Alternative To Communism.”

Moving away from the deep and the thought-provoking for a moment of levity and over the top patriotism. Liberty Prime is probably what some people dream of at night, just a giant freedom-loving mech with enough firepower to put most regiments to shame. When the player first starts him up in Fallout 3 he is just shouting some of the most hilarious lines while taking out just dozens of enclave troops indiscriminately.

6 “Ideals Are Strengthen By The Challenges They Endure”

This line is “said” by the courier, the person you play as in Fallout: New Vegas, where the player doesn’t actually hear the courier say anything. This line of dialogue is a small pretty much insignificant one in the game. It’s a skill check when the player is talking to some members of the Brotherhood of Steel but despite its insignificance in the overall game, it is still a solid line, especially when you consider how close-minded the Brotherhood of Steel generally is.

5 “If You Believe In Something Enough, You Must Be Willing To Let It Burn, Lest It Claim You”

This quote is said by Ulysses, the final boss that you encounter in the final Fallout: New Vegas DLC, Lonesome Road. He is a fairly philosophical character, even if he does come to a very strange and genocidal conclusion after he’s finished all of his thinking. This means that he says a lot of thought-provoking quotes no matter how your interaction with him ends. This quote sums up the stance on the world that he has when the player meets him as he does try to set off another nuke.

4 “And Don’t Get Me Started On The Futility Of Dusting A Collapsed House!”

We’re heading back to more funny quotes for another break from too much philosophical thinking. Codsworth is one of the best followers that the player can have in Fallout 4 which is made extra great considering that he can be found very early on and he’s hilarious.

One of the first things that Codsworth says to the Sole Survivor after seeing them again is just him complaining that he can’t clean the house because of the apocalypse. What a loyal and dedicated servant.

3 “Waging War Against Good People Is Bad For The Soul”

Joshua Graham is probably one of the most interesting characters that can be interacted with in all of Fallout New Vegas. Graham is encountered in the games DLC, Honest Hearts, where at first he seems relatable and down to earth but that soon unravels. Graham has a lot of insight into war, being someone who has both started one, has lead soldiers into battle and has suffered the consequences of leading them. Despite what happens when the player meets him this quote still stays consistent with his character.

2 “I Don’t Enjoy Killing But When Done Rightousley, It’s Just Another Chore”

There is so much that Graham says that is interesting that we have to put a second quote of his on this list. Despite the only thing that he does, and possibly even enjoying doing it, is preparing for war and battle, Graham still seems to be disgusted at the thought of it. Graham is a character tortured by his past both physically and mentally but still despite his scars and distaste for war, still sees it as a necessary means of reaching his goals.

1 “War Never Changes”

There is no other quote that we could put at the top of this list. Despite it being one of the most sadi in relation to the franchise and it actually being a quote first said by Napoleon its meaning has resonated to this day.  Despite all the technological advancements and differences that the world of Fallout has, they still succumbed to war and that trend continues even throughout the wastelands of the United States, showing us all that war never changes.
