Silva wasn’t at the hearing and was represented by his lawyer, Ross Goodman.

Silva was subjected to random drug testing by the NSAC, but when a collector came to give Silva the test, he ran from the collector. At a subsequent hearing on June 17, Silva admitted that he ran from the collector and took a diuretic to help reduce swelling from a fractured wrist.

“When you run from a test, that’s about the worst thing you can do,” NSAC chair Francisco Aguilar said at the hearing.

Goodman tried to challenge that Silva was an unlicensed fighter in Nevada and didn’t have the right to punish Silva. The commission denied Goodman’s challenged and gave him their punishment.

Silva retired from MMA on Friday, in part due to alleged mistreatment from the UFC. ESPN’s Brett Okamoto is reporting that Silva intends to appeal the ruling.
