Wake Forest revealed earlier this month that Tommy Elrod, when he was a radio analyst for the team, shared game plan information with Demon Deacons’ opponents. Elrod apparently was upset that Clawson did not retain him as an assistant coach when he was hired in December 2013.

The scandal has come to be known on as Wakey Leaks.

Clawson writes on SI.com:

Clawson goes on to extol the achievements of his players and trumpet the fact that since he joined the school, there has been $195 million raised for athletics and $63 million for football and facilities.

“We have made significant strides in rebuilding Wake Forest football — both on and off the field,” he writes.

“… We are going from having probably the worst facilities in the ACC to probably some of the best in the conference, all within three years.”

His piece concludes, “We hope that the Military Bowl can be the start of people focusing on what we’ve done on the field, not the unfortunate incident that happened off it.”

The Military Bowl is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday and will be broadcast by ESPN. Temple is about a 12-point favorite in the game, but presumably doesn’t have access to any insider information.
