Stars Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson suffered serious injuries during the NBA Finals against the Raptors, and both are expected to miss a majority of next season. Coach Steve Kerr shared some thoughts on the future of the Golden State on Friday, suggesting the team will go through some changes. “Our team is going to look a lot different next year,” Kerr told reporters, via ESPN. Durant will be out at least a year recovering from a ruptured Achilles while Thompson attempts to bounce back from a torn ACL....

The Warriors announced Thursday that Thompson was leaving the team to travel to the Bahamas for the funeral. Thompson's grandfather, Dewitt, died recently at his home in the Bahamas at age 94. The team says Thompson's status for Sunday's game at Portland is undetermined at this time. Thompson is averaging 17.9 points per game this season.

RIO DE JANEIRO (Reuters) - The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) on Monday defended the publication date of a damning report on doping in Russia, a day after the International Olympic Committee blamed it for the uncertainty surrounding Russian athletes at the Rio de Janeiro Games. WADA’s independent report compiled by law professor Richard McLaren was published on July 18, outlining systematic state-backed doping in Russia and triggering a series of sanctions only days before the start of the Brazil Olympics on Aug....

Accusations emerged last month when Beckie Scott, chair of the organisation’s Athlete Committee, claimed that she was “bullied” by some WADA officials over her opposition in May to reinstating Russia’s anti-doping agency. That was followed by athletics great Ed Moses saying he was told to “shut up” at a meeting of world anti-doping chiefs as he backed calls for an investigation into the bullying claims. The agency said that the initial findings of an independent review “did not conclude that the alleged bullying had taken place” but said it was taking these matters “very seriously”....

Yevgeny Prigozhin’s Wagner forces have been involved in the high-profile fights for the Ukrainian cities of Bakhmut and Soledar in the eastern Donetsk region. Russia recently claimed to have captured Soledar, a small salt-mining town several miles from Bakhmut, and the U.K. Defence Ministry wrote in an intelligence update on Wednesday that Ukrainian forces had “likely withdrawn” from the town by the end of January 16. But Russian and Wagner troops have yet to capture Bakhmut after months of fighting that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said last month had left the city “destroyed....

The U.S. think tank said Russian news agency RIA Novosti had amplified an interview with Prigozhin, who finances the Wagner Group. He states in the interview that his forces could not get through Ukrainian defenses in the Donetsk Oblast city.
